The Millionaire Matchmaker

Does anyone watch The Millionaire Matchmaker on Bravo? I have to admit that I do as a guilty pleasure. I know it's bad TV but I just love it! I think the biggest reason I tune in every Tuesday night (putting aside that nothing else is on television) is to see what the star of the show, Patti Stanger will say to her clueless millionaires.

Maybe I should back up just a step and reveal the premise of the show for those uninitiated. Patti is a third generation matchmaker with a supposedly high success rate. She is the founder of Millionaires Club International, a dating service that services celebrities, business executives and professional athletes to name a few. Basically a service for high rollers. According the website she has a database of over 30,000 potential matches available to those who want to make use of her expertise.

The television show on Bravo usually deals with a couple of millionaires looking for love, though on occasion there is a millionairess or gay client. The format starts with the matchmaking process and culminates with the first date. What makes the show so entertaining for me is the issues that Patti has to tackle while trying to find true love for her millionaire clients, including ageism, sexism and superficialism. She always speaks her mind and takes a strong opinion on love and dating. More times than not her instincts turn out to be correct especially when dealing with bullheaded men who think they know better than her.

Like I said the show is purely a guilty pleasure for me. The third season is currently airing on Bravo on Tuesday night at 9PM. Give this show a shot, it's something else to watch on Bravo while waiting on Top Chef to return...
